The aim of my work has been to explore this sometimes tenuous connection through intense contrasts, and the balance of opposites- nature and human intervention, light and dark, life and death.  Inspired by my passion for Tasmanian wilderness, which I experienced for the first time while on location for the filming of ‘The Sound of One Hand Clapping’,  this work has developed into a means of exploring  my experiences and feelings, resulting in multiple layers of symbolism and narrative that rise to the painted surface from my subconscious.  I aim for stillness and yet intensity of feeling.
